I'm trying to hide a box and it is not working.

The cause of this may be the chart style the boxes are in. If a box is set in any of the Box List chart styles, which appear on the fourth row of the Format>Chart Styles menu. These styles place a large box around the group of boxes or box in this style, and that box cannot be hidden. You can try setting the chart style to something other than these four styles and attempt hidding the box again.
