Dividing a subchart to two pages
« on: September 24, 2008, 09:02:40 AM »

I have an org chart created in OP 7 that imports from an Excel file. One of the subcharts is too large to fit on one page without using a microscope to view it. I would like to have it viewable on two pages. Is there a way to divide it in two? I'm aware I can create additional subcharts but I'd rather not use that method.

Thank you for contacting the OrgPlus Support Team.

Any Sub-chart breaks move all the boxes subordinates to one page. the best workaround for this would be to create dummy boxes under the manager and have half the subordinates report to one and the other half report to another and then put the sub-chart breaks on the dummy boxes.

I have the same problem, and I figured out I could improve it if I change the layout of the branch so that the subordinates are placed on both sides of the stem, if you get my meaning. I want to do that only for those branches that have more than a certain number of subordinates, but it had to be done automatically, using rules I guess. If I create an extra field in my source data to store the number of siblings of a box, could that be used to be compared to a threshold and trigger such a rule, if at all possible? Thanks!

Answering my own question... Yes, it can be done. :)

I created rules that change the chart style and box format for every box that has more than 25 peers, laying out the names two by two. The chart is much more readable now.
