Is it possible to add another box item that will provide the average years of service for a supervisor's direct reports? I think that I need some kind of formula that will calculate on the service years for a supervisor's direct reports and not including other employees.

I currently have the service years field pulled from my initial database on each box, as well as direct reports and total reports fields that I have calculated.

Thank you for contacting the OrgPlus Support Team.

Since you already have the number of service years all the employees currently have, all you will need to use is the Average formula. To set this formula up, please follow the steps below:

1. Choose Define Fields from the Data menu.
2. Select the Add button.
3. Rename the new UnnamedField to identify it as the average of service years.
4. Change the Field type from Text to Formula.
5. The Formula Properties window will open. Change the function to Average.
6. Set the Type to Field, and the Argument to your services years field.
7. Set the Range to Dir. Subordinates for counting only the direct reports.
8. Ok out.

If you do no have a field detailing the number of service years, but you have the employee's hire date, you can get that count by using the Years_with_company formula presented on page 7-28 of the OrgPlus 7 manual.
