Does 5.1 require a different org viewer than 5.0?

Yes and no. OrgViewer has different builds just like OrgPlus. You can get the current build (168) of OrgViewer here:

Ok, but I know that if I build a chart using 5.0 I can't have the viewer from 4.0 and look at it.  I want to know if I build a chart in 5.1, can I use the viewer from 5.0 to view it?

I don't want to have to install on users computers if I don't have to.

Yes, if you build a chart with 5.1 then OrgViewer 5.0 will open it. However, we always suggest you stay up to date. There is a security problem with a Microsoft DLL in OrgViewer 5.0 (build 137). Later, today or tomorrow we will be releasing OrgPlus 5.1.1 it too will have a new release of OrgViewer. Please check our maintenance page for updates.
